Player Quick Pick: Santa Anita for 6/14/14
by Matt Carter
Santa Anita race 8 | 7:44 pm ET G1 Vanity for 3&Up F&M going 1-1/8 mi
GRACE HALL was off a year when she ran in the Grade 2 Ruffian last month, but she showed the same form prior to the layoff and finished a good second behind Fiftyshadesofhay. The daughter of Empire Maker has been working well and she looks good to get her first Grade 1 victory. The filly to beat; however, is the California-based LET FAITH ARISE, who has won two of her last three with the only loss coming to Close Hatches two back in the Grade 1 Apple Blossom. LET FAITH ARISE took back off the pace in her last, the Grade 3 Adoration, and had to work to catch front-runner YAHILWA. The two were nearly nine lengths clear of third, making both strong bets in the Vanity. At 8-1 on the morning line, MAGIC UNION is worth a long look and a must use in any trifecta or superfecta wager. She was second to Close Hatches back in March then looked like a short horse two months later in the La Troienne at Churchill on Kentucky Oaks day. There should be plenty of pace to set up her late run.
