Player Quick Pick: Santa Anita for 6/21/14

June 21st, 2014

Santa Anita 5 | 6:00 pm ET Singletary for 3yo going 1 mi (T)

Jojo Warrior and the Summertime Oaks may get top billing for the day, but the Singletary looks to be the better betting race. A field of nine go one mile on the turf with HOME RUN KITTEN the 5-2 morning line favorite. HOME RUN KITTEN has run six times in her career with two wins, one second and two thirds. HOME RUN KITTEN will be doing his best running late, but there does not appear to be a lot of pace in the race. HOME SCHOOL made the pace in the allowance race that was won by HOME RUN KITTEN, but it was the first time he was on the lead and the jockey switch suggests a change of tactics. The Irish-bred was good enough to finish second in a Group 3 race in Ireland as a two-year-old. The jockey that was on HOME RUN KITTEN, Tyler Baze, is now on TOOWINDYTOHAULROX and that colt may take the initiative early. TOOWINDYTOHAULROX brown his maiden down the hill and will be making his first start around two turns. FOREVER JUANITO is the other to make the early running and is coming off a third place finish in the Grade 3 Affirmed on dirt; he is better on turf. SAWYER'S HILL and ARGYLE CUT are two interesting prospects that made their last start up north at Golden Gate. The two ran very well last month in their respective races and both have enough tactical speed to be laying close.
