Pool 1 of Kentucky Derby Future Wager opens Nov. 1 with 40 betting interests

The Kentucky Derby Future Wager (KDFW) is expanding in more ways than one. An early Nov. 1 kickoff for Pool 1 makes room for an additional sixth pool, and the total of betting interests is increasing to 40.
Opening Tuesday at noon, Pool 1 includes an “all other colts and geldings” option, listed as the 3-5 favorite on the morning line; an “all fillies” option (80-1); and 38 individual interests.
Pool 1 runs through Thursday at 6 p.m. (all times ET), the eve of Breeders’ Cup “Future Stars Friday” at Keeneland.
Among those scheduled to run in the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile (G1) are Forte, pegged as the individual favorite at 15-1 on the morning line; Blazing Sevens (30-1); Congruent (99-1); Curly Jack (99-1); Hurricane J (99-1); Lost Ark (50-1); and Verifying (60-1). Tyler’s Tribe (99-1) is cross-entered to the Juvenile but expected in the Juvenile Turf Sprint (G1), while Andthewinneris (99-1) is in the Juvenile Turf (G1).

Pool 2 of the KDFW will be held over Thanksgiving weekend, Nov. 24-27, in tandem with the Kentucky Derby Sire Future Wager. The remaining KDFW Pools will be held Jan. 20-22 (Pool 3); Feb. 10-12 (Pool 4); March 10-12 (Pool 5), alongside the lone Kentucky Oaks Future Wager; and March 30-April 1 (Pool 6).
The 149th Kentucky Derby will be held on May 6, 2023.
