Presque Isle Downs Selections and Analysis for Sept. 8

September 7th, 2022

Race One:

1st: #5 LUCKY NINETEEN – showed high speed in his Presque Isle Downs debut two starts back against better maiden company. He came back and ran about the same race and now drops down to maiden claimers for Malvin Roman.

2nd: #1 ROGERS GINGER – still a maiden after 12 tries and the last four came against this maiden claiming level. He was second two starts in a row then tired last out when he battled to the deep stretch. Matt Kintz wins 24% with his overall maiden claimers.

3rd: #2 MY TWO AUNT JOANS – raced evenly in his career debut against better maidens and gets Pablo Morales.

Race Two:

1st: #3 SERENE WARRIOR – was a sharp winner two starts back here against this class and distance, then moved up in class and could not keep in a very fast race. Tim Girten wins 20% with his all-weather starters and 19% with this kind of dropdown.

2nd: #2 BABY DRAGON – drops down in class and distance. She finished up last year in good form but has struggled this year while racing against much better company. This is the lowest level she has faced and her last two starts should have her fit.

3rd: #4 TUDOX ROADSTER – began the year with two good starts then raced evenly against better company than this.

Race Three:

1st: #6 AULT – horse for the course just missed two starts back against this claiming level, then was an even fourth from post 10 going two turns. Shelly Radosevich wins 18% with her overall claimers and 16% with her synthetic-track starters.

2nd: #4 STARSHIP EMPIRE – beat better claimers by five lengths, then raced evenly against allowance company. He rallied for second against this claiming level last out in a wide trip and needs to keep up early.

3rd: #3 GREAT – has yet to live up to his name but he drops down in class for Bill Martin, who adds Pablo Morales.

Race Four:

1st: #8 DUN RIGHT – showed much better speed two starts back here, then tired last out when stretched out to two turns. He should appreciate the turn back in distance for Glenn Wismer, who wins 28% going long to short.

2nd: #1 HE IS READY – gelded son of More Than Ready who showed some speed in prior starts, then was a good second last out here when he rallied from off the pace. He draws the rail and gets Addiel Ayala.

3rd: #9 GRAVE DANGER – drops down in class and distance after showing good speed and is now trained by Matt Kintz.

Race Five:

1st: #8 PAPI BELLO – was beaten 36 lengths in his three starts against better, then came here and rallied for second from post 12 going two turns when dropped down to this conditioned claiming level. Scott Spieth returns.

2nd: #7 SUMMER BOSS – was claimed for this price three starts back and ran off to a huge lead before getting caught in the deep stretch. He raced evenly going six furlongs and now stretches out to two turns with Gaddiel Martinez – 19% with his route mounts.

3rd: #3 SMOKEY LEE – dropped down to this conditioned claiming level last out with a good third behind the top choice.

Race Six:

1st: #6 BODE BY YOU – showed good speed at Churchill Downs two starts back, then came here and rallied for second in her PID debut. The daughter of Munnings has breakaway speed so Antonio Gallardo has options coming out of the gate.

2nd: #4 DO YOU LOVE ME – began her career here two years ago in very good form but she has never really developed. The daughter of long-winded English Channel should be a stretch factor while dropping down in class.

3rd: #3 CAROLINA SAND – improved each of three starts going two turns so now she drops to a sprint while moving up in class.

Race Seven:

1st: #4 VALENTINE BUG – beat similar company going this distance, then dropped back to six furlongs. He missed by a neck two starts back then by a length last out in very fast time. Teresa Connelly wins 26% with her allowance starters.

2nd: #5 EXTRASEXYBIGDADDEE – beat state-bred allowance foes at the end of last year and has been facing open company this year. He romped last out going this distance in very fast time for Mike Trombetta – 24% with his synthetic-track runners.

3rd: #2 RIO ABAJO – horse for the course has a ton of early speed and now stretches out to two turns.

Race Eight:

1st: #2 RUN LAUGHING – put together a three-race winning streak that covered two years. After winning her debut off the long layoff this year, she came back with a good third against better and now drops in class for Bill Martin – 19% with his claimers.

2nd: #6 GET SASSY – horse for the course has been running against better company and now drops to the bottom for Justin Morrell, who wins 14% with his synthetic-track starters. Erin Walker rides back – 11% with her sprint rides.

3rd: #1 WATERLOO SUNSET – was a good winner two starts back here then rallied for third against this level.
