Presque Isle Downs Selections and Analysis for Tuesday, June 11, 2024

June 10th, 2024

Dick Powell furnishes his insights into Tuesday’s eight-race card at Presque Isle Downs

Race One

1st: (5) JULIETTE FALLS – won three starts back when blinkers were added, then tired in her last start of the season. She came out running three weeks ago with a good second going 5 1/2 furlongs. Lance Stokes wins 13% with his overall claimers.

2nd: (4) DOMINANT STRANGER – only 1-for-33 here but has 15 placings, so she clearly likes to run here. Off the long layoff, she was an even third behind the top choice going 5 1/2 furlongs. She draws well for her second start of the season.

3rd: (1) NEW WAYS TO DREAM – speedball tired late in her first start in three months and draws the rail again.

Race Two

1st: (1) GOTHAM GRAY – ran well when dropped down to this maiden claiming level at Turfway Park, then chased the pace going two turns at Charles Town. Daughter of Frosted drops back down in class with Addiel Ayala aboard.

2nd: (4) FIGHT IN THE DOG – speedy filly has not been hanging on, but her last start was her best when Lasix was added. She drops down for John Fennessy, who wins 20% with this move and gets Erin Walker back aboard.

3rd: (3) MISS CLAUDETTE – raced evenly in four starts on the dirt at Tampa Bay Downs, then ran well here despite a slow start.

Race Three

1st: (2) MISS GETTY UP – one-dimensional closer won going away here against this claiming level and since she wasn’t claimed, Tim Girten wheels her right back with Pablo Morales returning.

2nd: (3) LET’S BE HONEST – prolific winner all over the East Coast won on a muddy track two starts back at Mahoning Valley, then came here and was a good second in her PID debut. She could be right there if she runs back to that effort.

3rd: (6) FOREVER UNCAPTURED – amazing filly has been claimed six times in her career and showed good speed here last out.

Race Four

1st: (2) DUKE SKYWALKER – was soundly beaten in her last three starts last year by 42 lengths but returned here off the long layoff and was a good third against this conditioned claiming level.

2nd: (3) ROCK WITH YOU – just missed going gate to wire in his PID debut off a three-month layoff and got claimed. He now runs for Ed Rojas, who wins 26% first start off the claim and 30% first start after being beaten as the favorite.

3rd: (6) WON SMALL WARRIOR – broke his maiden first time out last July, then tired against allowance foes.

Race Five

1st: (4) BLAMEITONMYMOMMA – broke his maiden here in his well-bet career debut, then was soundly beaten going two turns on a muddy track against stakes foes. He came back and won on the Tapeta at Turfway when Lasix was added.

2nd: (2) COLONEL POPPY – finished up last year with a good second going nine furlongs in fast time here, then was off for almost seven months. He missed by a length here going six furlongs three weeks ago for Matt Kintz.

3rd: (1) CERTAIN – speedball breaking from the rail went gate to wire two starts back off the long layoff.

Race Six

1st: (7) DWELLER – was off for 367 days and showed some speed on the dirt at Parx against open company allowance foes. She came back here with a good second and meets the same group for Brandon Kulp, who wins 32% third start off the layoff.

2nd: (3) ROCK N REWARD – ran great here last year in her first two career starts, including a win at 1-5 odds. She did nothing on the dirt off a long layoff for Kulp, who wins 23% second start off the layoff.

3rd: (6) DROWNINGNCHOCOLATE – broke her maiden in her PID debut last out here and returns with Walker aboard.

Race Seven

1st: (1) YELLOW FEATHERS – tired badly in her well-bet career debut here last October, then went to Tampa Bay Downs and broke her maiden by over nine lengths in fast time. Anything close to that effort can beat these.

2nd: (3) FROLIC IN THE PARK – was shuffled back from post 1 before exploding in the lane to win going away on the Tapeta at Turfway Park in her career debut. She returns 192 days later for Bill Cowans, who wins 20% in this spot.

3rd: (6) ITALIAN IVY – rallied from way back to win by a neck against cheap maiden claimers at Turfway Park 89 days ago.

Race Eight

1st: (6) R CHELLO – showed speed for a half-mile here in his well-bet career debut. He comes back against the same level for Rojas, who wins 26% with his synthetic-track starters and 15% when Martina rides.

2nd: (9) IMPOSTER SYNDROME – still a maiden after 12 tries, but he has two seconds in three starts here. Son of War Front makes his second start off the long layoff for Kintz, who wins 23% first start after being beaten as the favorite.

3rd: (10) ATROCIOUS – was an even third here in his Tapeta debut and tries again from a wide post.
