Promise Me Silver remains perfect in Eight Belles, Race 10, on 2015 Kentucky Oaks undercard

May 1st, 2015

Promise Me Silver gave trainer Bret Calhoun back-to-back wins in Friday’s Eight Belles S. (G3), run as the 10th race on the 2015 Kentucky Oaks Friday card.

Last year, Calhoun triumphed with another Texas-bred in Fiftyshadesofgold.

This time around, Promise Me Silver and jockey Robby Albarado bided their time down on the rail as Ekati’s Phaeton and Super Saks battled it out up front. Rounding the turn, Albarado was still sitting chilly but Promise Me Silver easily drew even with Super Saks and took command in the stretch, drawing off to secure her eighth career victory from as many starts.

Promise Me Silver, a Robert G. Luttrell homebred, was sent off at 5-1 and returned $12.60 for finishing seven furlongs on the fast Churchill Downs dirt in 1:22 4/5. This was her first graded win but her seventh stakes score.
