History of Horse Racing at Ajax Downs

Ajax Downs, located in Ajax, Ontario, has been devoted to Quarter Horse racing exclusively for over 40 years. Formerly Picov Downs, home of many young aspiring Canadian jockeys, the track was renamed and rebranded in 2006 following the establishment of a new slots facility. A full six furlong oval track was constructed in 2009, and the track is home to many notable stakes races, including qualifying events for the AQHA Bank of America Racing Challenge program.
