Racing Roundtable: Easter weekend review and appealing longshots for the Kentucky Derby, Oaks

The Racing Roundtable of Ashley Anderson, James Scully, and Vance Hanson congregate to go over what caught their eye over the weekend in racing, but mostly to look ahead to the Kentucky Derby (G1) and Kentucky Oaks (G1).

It was a relatively quiet week in racing, with the graded action centered at Oaklawn Park, Keeneland, and Santa Anita. First Mission registered his first win of the season in the $1.25 million Oaklawn H. (G2) and looks to play some role in a very deep older dirt male division in the coming months.

There were notable upsets in Keeneland's stakes Easter week racing including in the Doubledogdare (G3), when Gin Gin dominated a field that included a former champion juvenile and other Grade 1 types. In contrast, Richi improved her status among older dirt females by taking the Santa Maria (G2) in California.

But most of the Roundtable is devoted to the Derby and Oaks, now less than two weeks away. Ashley, James, and Vance discuss longshots in both races they feel will run well, or at least outperform their odds.
