The TwinSpires Harness Preview blog’s feature results are below, along with in-the-money finishers from our horses-to-watch list (H2W), and of course, our News & Notes section, which reports and remarks on the states of our sport.
Friday, Oct. 2
The Bluegrass (BG) weekend at The Red Mile began with high-stakes frosh-colt trotters.
In the first round the third choice won, followed by our two choices, Cuatra De Julio ($7.20, $5.20) and Southwind Tyrion ($3.20).
In the next trotting boys’ BG, the public supported our horse, In Range (4-5), finishing sixth to a 19-1 winner.
The last BG colt trot was won by the favorite, with our choice, Jack Fire ($5.40, $3.20) completing the $24.80 exacta.
BGs for frosh-filly pacers co-starred on the program. We won the first with Test Of Faith ($2.60. $2.10, $2.10 ok) and lost to a 7-2 shot in the second with a dull, hopeless effort from Shania Blue Chip (72-1).
Saturday, Oct. 3
BGs at The Red Mile on this afternoon program offered top dollar to frosh-colt pacers. Favorites won each of three splits.
In the first we were seventh with Beach Party (23-1), fifth with Winner Is Coming (16-1) and third with Always B Miki ($2.40).
The Dayton Derby trifecta began with the distaff, where we supported the top two finishers—Kissin In the Sand ($3.80, $2.20, $2.10) and Shartin N ($2.10, $2.10).
The trotting Derby went to the favorite, while our choice, When Dovescry (44-1) raced to his odds, which was disappointing, but she will be back with better chops soon.
In the pacing derby, we saw the return of Bettors Wish ($5.80, $4.20, $3.20), who could not be upset by Backstreet Shadow (11-1).
H2W LIST RESULTS
The H2W results list across-the-board prices. Exactas listed include a H2W horse finishing second to a race-favorite or if the first two finishers are H2W horses (an asterisk appears when both horses are listed—a cold exacta). The note “ok” determines that prices are correct (even when a show price exceeds a place price or all prices are the same).
Please note that some results reflect horses racing after the blog posts (they appear the following week).
This week, there were 36 active horses (a 22-percent win hit rate and a 47-percent ATB [across-the-board] hit rate).
