Churchill Downs released the "Road to the Kentucky Derby" points schedule for the 2017-18 season, and several changes were made to the series.
Highlighting the changes is the addition of a "European Road to the Kentucky Derby," which consists of seven contests taking place in Ireland, Great Britain and France. The first four races in the series, which kicks off September 24 in the Beresford Stakes in Ireland, will take place on turf while the remaining three will be conducted over synthetic tracks.
Churchill also has brought back the popular "Japan Road to the Kentucky Derby" and included the December 13 Zen-Nippon Nisai Yushun to the schedule.
Among the changes to the domestic series is the addition of Remington Park's Springboard Mile and points adjustments to both the Spiral Stakes (G3) and Lexington Stakes (G3).
