Royal Ascot: Easy-to-play Omni/Swinger bet for the King's Stand
As a “Win and You’re In” qualifier for the 2022 Breeders’ Cup Turf Sprint (G1), Tuesday’s prestigious King’s Stand S. (G1) at Royal Ascot in England is well worth watching (and betting).
No fewer than 18 horses have been entered in the King’s Stand, which takes place over a straight five furlongs on turf. If you want to dip your toes into wagering on Royal Ascot, we recommend trying an Omni/Swinger bet on the King’s Stand.

What is an Omni/Swinger?
The Omni/Swinger is one of the easiest exotic wagers to hit. It’s a lot like an exacta, in that you must select at least two horses. But whereas an exacta requires you to select the top two finishers in the correct order, the Omni/Swinger simply requires your two horses to finish in the top three—the order is unimportant. You win if they run 1-2, 1-3, or 2-3.
You can also use more than two horses in the Omni/Swinger, further increasing your chances of winning.
How to bet the Omni/Swinger in the King’s Stand
U.S. racing fans are fully familiar with #5 Golden Pal, one of the favorites to win the King’s Stand. Trainer Wesley Ward has enjoyed strong success at Royal Ascot through the years, and Golden Pal has developed into a grass dasher of the highest caliber, winning the 2020 Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Turf Sprint (G2) and 2021 Breeders’ Cup Turf Sprint.
Golden Pal kicked off 2022 with a 4 3/4-length romp in the Shakertown S. (G2) at Keeneland, but he’s not necessarily unbeatable at Royal Ascot. He’s 6-for-7 in the U.S. but 0-for-2 abroad, finishing second in the 2020 Norfolk S. (G2) at Royal Ascot before faltering to seventh place in the 2021 Nunthorpe S. (G1) at York.
Who are the logical alternative in the King’s Stand? #12 Nature Strip, an eight-time Group 1 winner shipping in from Australia, looks mighty formidable after dominating the T.J. Smith S. (G1) earlier this season. #7 King’s Lynn is another must-use contender after battling to victory in the five-furlong Temple S. (G2) at Haydock last month, historically a productive stepping stone toward the King’s Stand.
Let’s key Nature Strip in our Omni/Swinger, counting on him to finish in the top three with either Golden Pal or King’s Lynn joining him.
- $10 Omni/Swinger: 12 with 5
- $10 Omni/Swinger: 12 with 7
Total: $20
Good luck!
