The Cazador leads the field in the Laddie Futurity

Delta Downs for an exciting card of Quarter Horse racing. The Vinton, Louisiana racetrack present a ten-race card, highlighted by the $266,140 Louisiana Breeders’ Laddie Futurity.

The Cazador, a sorrel son of Sir Runaway Dash and the fastest qualifier, leads the field of  2-year-old colts and geldings entered  in the 330-yard final, which will run as the ninth race on the card.  He made his debut with a 1 1/4-length victory in the eighth of 12 trials on April 29. The colt drew post 7 and will be ridden by John Hamilton.

Other contenders include TM Ranch’s Jls Dash N Fire, the second-fastest qualifier and an $80,000 buy at last year’s LQHBA Yearling Sale. Trained by Kenneth Roberts Sr., the Heza Fast Dash colt is coming off of a three-quarter length win in his debut, the sixth LQHBA Laddie Futurity trial.

The winning connections from Friday night's Lassie Futurity at Delta Downs

Fillies took center stage Friday night in the $322,285 Louisiana Lassie Futurity and it was the tenth-fastest qualifier, Dashnunder Afullmoon, who rewarded her supporters with a win payout of $59.40.  It was a big night for trainer Jose Sanchez, who was the winning conditioner and also saddled the second-place finisher Ttt Kas.  He will give a leg up to his son, Eddie on #10 Sizzling Blues, who is 20-1 on the morning line in tonight’s Laddie Futurity. Horseplayers might be wise to include the longshot in some of their plays this evening!

Post time for tonight’s action at Delta Downs Quarter Horse meet is 6:15 pm (Central).  Keep the Preakness “mojo” working and enjoy some great Quarter Horse racing!
