Scully’s Breeders’ Cup Friday betting strategy

It will be fast and firm at Keeneland for Friday’s five Breeders’ Cup races. I will focus the majority of my bankroll on Saturday’s nine Breeders' Cup races, budgeting $100 for Friday’s 2-year-old action.

My strongest opinions are in the Juvenile Turf Sprint (G2) and Juvenile Fillies (G1), Races 6 and 8. I will build Pick 3s, along with some additional wagers, and here are my thoughts:

Race 6 – Juvenile Turf Sprint

#14 Golden Pal looked special winning the Aug. 21 Skidmore S. at Saratoga, carving out :21.99 and :44.37 splits with ease, and the Wesley Ward-trained colt will blitz rivals on the front end in my estimation.

A hot pace may exact a toll upon those chasing Golden Pal in the opening stages, and I will play three straight exactas over three foes who should be running late: #6 Ubettabelieveit, #12 Dirty Dangle, and #13 Second of July.

$10 Exactas: 14 over 6,12,13 ($30)
$1 Pick 3: 14 with all with 1 ($14)
$1 Pick 3: 14 with 4,5,10,11 with 1 ($4)

Race 8 – Juvenile Fillies

#1 Simply Ravishing loves Keeneland. Unbeaten from three starts, the New York-bred filly showed high class romping in the Oct. 2 Alcibiades (G1), breaking like a shot from the starting gate with regular rider Luis Saez, and drew off spectacularly through the short stretch. If Simply Ravishing breaks as expected from her innermost post Friday, she will take them wire to wire.

I will play a straight exacta over #7 Princess Noor, who should be rallying in the latter stages. And a straight daily double over #5 Aunt Pearl in the Juvenile Fillies Turf (G1).

My Pick 3 strategy involves a couple of imposing front-runners, Aunt Pearl and #7 Jackie’s Warrior in the Juvenile (G1). I also will play a saver with #5 Essential Quality in the Juvenile.

$10 Exacta: 1-7 ($10)
$10 Daily Double: 1-5 ($10)
$1 Pick 3: 1 with 5 with all ($14)
$1 Pick 3: 1 with all with 7 ($14)
$1 Pick 3: 1 with 2,3,10,11 with 5 ($4)

Good luck!
