Singling the ‘other’ Lynch trainee in Gulfstream Park’s Pick 4
A competitive four-race sequence closes the strong Saturday card at Gulfstream Park and I am focusing on the late Pick 4. I think there is an opportunity to get a price to kick things off which could make this a lucrative payoff.
RACE 9
Seven will go in the grassy Tropical Turf Stakes (G3), and the race goes through multiple Grade 1 winner Heart to Heart (#6) (4-5). The Brian Lynch pupil is easily the class of the field and boasts a five-for-seven mark on the course, as well.
However, there is a good chance that Heart to Heart is not fully cranked for the occasion, with bigger goals awaiting him throughout the season. So, I will also include a few others with value.
Multiple stakes winner White Flag (#2) (7-2) and Shug McGaughey’s Doctor Mounty (#4) (10-1) get included in leg one of the Pick 4 as contenders who will get a swift pace to rally into down the lane.
RACE 10
A field of 11 three-year-old colts will tussle in a tough six-furlong maiden dash. I could make a case for numerous runners in the cast and I must use a handful in this tricky spot.
Camgo (#1) (3-1), High Crime (#2) (15-1) and Geoscience (#6) (5-1) each ran well on debut, and I will add first-time starters Brainstorm (#5) (4-1) and No Rules (#8) (6-1) as well.
RACE 11
Eight fillies and mares will vie in the Marshua’s River Stakes (G3). La Signare (#7) (3-1) looks formidable if she repeats her victory in the Wonder Again Stakes (G3) last campaign.
Lynch trainee shows some sharp morning drills in advance of her return with Jose Ortiz signed on. I think she is a fine prospect and, since I can’t separate the others in the affair, I will single La Signare.
RACE 12
Fillies and mares will run 1 1/8 miles on the lawn in a well-matched finale to close out the play. The optional claiming affair lacks a standout and will be a spread race for me with just three omissions.
War Cabinet (#2) (5-1), Cured By Kitten (#3) (6-1), Lucky Long (#4) (8-1), Come on City (#6) (10-1), Sweet Sting (#7) (4-1), Nantucket Red (#8) (6-1) and Blue Collar (#9) (7-2) make the ticket.
Suggested 50-cent Pick 4 play:
2,4,6 with 1,2,5,6,8 with 7 with 2,3,4,6,7,8,9 = $52.50
Good Luck!
