Southland - JS FAST PHILI Wins 2016 Spring Futurity Championship

What a super exciting and very entertaining championship race  there was on Saturday afternoon at Southland Greyhound Park as the finals of the 2016 SPRING FUTURITY STAKES are now in the books. In a classic sure to be remembered for quite some time, JS FAST PHILI stormed from behind after encountering early trouble and was able to run down the leaders to get the win in an extremely tight finish. Theeree, which was my pick to win it all finished a very close 2nd, beaten only by a neck. Running 3rd was Jt's Fly By You and Boc's Doubleshot finished 4th, only a length behind the winner. JS FAST PHILI went off at 13 to 1 while Theeree went off as the even money favorite at post time. Congratulations go out to JS FAST PHILI on his tremendous effort and well deserved win as well as Plum Creek Kennel, trainer Monte Hoopes and all other connections to this hard running greyhound.
