SOUTHLAND Preview - Sunday afternoon, August 9
Welcome to another Sunday afternoon of exciting greyhound racing at Southland as there are 18 entertaining races on tap for your viewing and wagering pleasure. For this afternoon MoneyMaker Mike will give four longshot selections for those of you who have requested that I give out some picks that could bring a nice return on your investment. The only requirement for a longshot pick is that the greyhounds selected not be one of the four favorites at the bottom of the program. These are picks that I think stand a decent chance of finishing in the top three and helping make the ticket a nice paying one. Always remember that should you have any questions about wagering opportunities or opening an account BETAMERICA can assist you and help you in those areas. Good luck to all and thanks for reading.
Race 2 - 583 yard course - Grade C - DREW MY CHARGES - 4 box - A hard running greyhound who is listed at 10-1, probably won't go off at those odds but still a solid play since he's dropping in grade. He's encountered much trouble of late but is very capable of having a big run here. He hasn't shown much quickness out of the box as of late but a nice early burst of speed and a clean run could have him in position for the win down the stretch.
Race 5 - 583 yard course - Grade C - DJAYS MUY BUENA - 8 box - Also showing 10-1 odds, here is one of my 5 Up & Coming Young Greyhounds to watch for the month of August at Southland and even though she is coming off two bad finishes, I am still willing to give her the benefit of the doubt and give her a shot here. She has 5 top three finishes in her young career of 8 races so with her mid to wide running style, the post position could give her the edge she needs.
Race 9 - 583 yard course - Grade D - KILLER YALE - 3 box - He's not showing much on the program but I am going to give him a shot due to his rail running style and the fact he's coming off a decent schooling race having had a 2nd place finish in it. At 9-1 presently, he may not draw much interest but he does have two top four finishes in his six races and that does include a win. He should also be well rested as he's only had one official race in the last month.
Race14 - 660 yard course - Grade B - SE'S THE COMMISH - 2 box - Here is a recent transfer from Derby Lane and he schooled in nicely last time out, running 3rd and beaten by only a length in his first trip over the Southland track. He is no stranger to the 660 distance having run that at his previous track and that experience should help give him a decent change here. He is showing 22-1 odds on the program but I do look for those odds to drop some before the race.
Good luck to everyone.
