SOUTHLAND Preview - Thursday twilight, July 30
Welcome to another big Thursday twilight card of greyhound racing at Southland as there are 18 entertaining and exciting races on tap for your viewing and wagering pleasure. So far this week, MoneyMaker Mike's selections have turned out to be pretty good overall and hopefully that will continue with these picks. I am sticking with some of the top grade contests for the selections during this last week of July. Good luck to everyone and thanks for reading.
Race 4 - Grade A - 583 yards - The pick here is the impressive young greyhound the (3) INTERROGATOR who is 12 out of 19 in top four finishes and has 6 wins already. He's got a good rush and has shown the ability to run from anywhere on the track, keep an eye on this one in the future. Also worthy of consideration here is the (5) Cbj Waterford who gave a nice effort last time out with a solid 2nd place finish. I will include in the play the (8) Talented Ralph and the (1) T's Spectraflame.
Pick 3-5-8-1
Race 16 - Grade A - 660 yards - I like the (7) SOVEREIGN ABBEY here as she likes it wide and she's coming off two solid second place finishes. The (4) Topline Drive has encountered some trouble of late but I believe he finds running room on the rail to make a strong run here. To complete the tri and superfecta plays I am going with the (2) State Of Art and the (8) Time Flies, either one or both could help provide a big money ticket here.
Pick 7-4-2-8
Race 17 - Grade AA - 660 yards - A very competitive field but I'm going with the (6) OSHKOSH FANTASIA as the one to beat here. With a big blast out of the box and a mid to wide running style, she's in a good spot to make it 4 wins in her last 6 races. I like the (1) Deacon Clayborne to also get out fast and challenge for the early lead and I will include the always hard running (4) Kiowa Jared to make a late move down the stretch. Completing the play will be the (2) Keeper Pocket who is a very consistent runner as evidence by his 28 top four finishes in 36 races which includes 10 wins.
Pick 6-1-4-2
The MoneyMaker Mike longshot of the evening is in the 6th race, a Grade C race over the 583 yard course and I'm going with the (9) Nb's Notorious. He is 17-1 on the morning line and is dropping in class so I'll give him a shot here.
