SOUTHLAND Preview - Wednesday twilight, July 29

July 28th, 2015

Welcome to another big Wednesday twilight card of greyhound racing at Southland as there are 18 entertaining and exciting races on tap for your viewing and wagering pleasure. Last Friday's and this week's Monday MoneyMaker Mike's selections turned out to be pretty good overall and hopefully that will continue with these picks. I am sticking with some of the top grade contests for the selections during this last week of July. Good luck to everyone and thanks for reading.

Race 1 - Grade TA - 334 yards - Going with the (1) ARKANS TT GATOR in this one because of him drawing the inside post. I look for him to battle for the lead right out of the box and with his good early speed I believe he gets the front and holds on for the win. Another capable greyhound that is posted well is the (7) Blackjack Lola who also has early speed and this mid to wide runner should have room to run here. Completing the play, I'll use both the (4) Volando Autobahn and the (6) Fly Aqib Talib.

Pick - 1-7-4-6

Race 2 - Grade A - 583 yards - In this very competitive race I am keying the (5) RL CANNONBALL. He is dropping down in grade as he's been running in AA and he does have a win and 2 second place finishes in his last six races so the change in class should help. He has shown good early speed and I look for him to be challenging for the lead right out of the box. The (2) Jerod Mayo is going for 3 straight wins and I also like the (3) Mega Nerfetta who is a recent transfer from Derby Lane and did have 18 wins at that track. This will be her first official start at Southland but I wouldn't overlook her. I'll use the (7) Jk Wish who is coming off a nice Grade B win last time out.

Pick 5-2-3-7

Race 10 - Grade AA - 583 yards - I like the (1) MEGA VAST because of his good early speed that goes well with his inside running style and the rail post should give him the edge in this one. The (4) In My Memory is a hard running greyhound who gives 110% each time out as evidenced by his 29 top four finishes in 34 starts which includes 12 wins and he should be close by at the wire. The (2) Flying Rainmaker and the (5) Cbj Butterfinger  will complete the ticket for tri and superfecta plays.

Pick - 1-4-2-5

The MoneyMaker Mike longshot play of the evening is in race 18, a Grade D contest over the 703 yards course. It is the (6) TJAYS BAD AGENT who is 9 to 1 on the morning line. She has given some good efforts of late and I am thinking in this race, she may be able to get the early lead with a good break and have enough in the tank to hang on for a nice money finish.

Good luck to all.
