SOUTHLAND'S IRON DOG CHALLENGE Gets Underway Wednesday, February 1

The first stakes racing of the season at Southland gets started Wednesday, February 1 with the preliminaries of the $20,000 IRON DOG CHALLENGE. This stakes contest will be unique in that it will consist of one greyhound who was submitted from each participating kennel that will race over three different courses (583, 660 & 703 distances). It starts with 2 qualifying races over the 583 yard course during the Wednesday twilight session and the top four finishers in each race will move on to the main stakes. Another interesting twist will be that the points leader  after completing the third stage will then get to chose the distance for the Finals which will be held on Friday, February 24.
