The meet preview blog posts are starting to take on a template form, as with every track opening I continue to wax poetic about the power recent speed.

Woodbine is the latest to join the group, as the best last-out Brisnet.com Speed Rating in sprints at the Toronto-area track have an impact value of 2.09 with an ROI of just -3.5%. If you only look at horses whose last-out Brisnet.com Speed Rating is at least two points more than the next horse, then it’s actually an ROI-positive angle in dirt sprints.

Woodbine opens its 8-month long stand—the last for announcer Dan Loiselle— on Saturday, and we’ll have an immediate litmus test for this angle, as all 20 races this weekend are sprints on the synthetic, including 17 dashing five furlongs.

And opening weekend is a great time to test this method because TwinSpires.com is giving players 10x points on all wagers. No catch, no qualification, just 10x points when you bet Woodbine.

And watch this space (and our promos page) all meeting long because we & Brisnet.com are working with Woodbine on lots of fun stuff for its racing throughout the year, including the brand new $.20 Pick 5.

We’ll be back for more wagering nuggets at Woodbine once horses start stretching out and take to the turf.
