Here are some horses of interest on the August 27 program.

Race 2 -- Maiden Special Weight

Though beaten twice in a row as a heavy favorite at Delaware, the stretch out to 1 1/2 miles here could prove key for #4 WINTER UNION (4-1). By Belmont Stakes winner Union Rags, his dam was a G3 winner over 12 furlongs. Addition of Jose Ortiz also a plus.

Race 3 -- Maiden Claiming

#3 MISS JACKIE G (15-1) found all sorts of trouble in her turf debut 11 months ago down at Laurel. More mature now and aggressively spotted off the long spell by Horacio DePaz, who strikes at 20% with 90+ day layoff types. Picks up Ricardo Santana, who guided another DePaz to victory here on Aug. 19 ($13.40) having been out since November. Better on the way.

Race 8 -- Better Talk Now

Despite having just a maiden win to his credit, #10 IRISH TERRITORY's (10-1) company lines generally explain why. Effort against Catholic Boy here last season looks huge in retrospect, and flop against that rival and Analyze It in the Pennine Ridge (G3) perhaps excusable. Blinkers added here and worktab punctuated by bullet five-furlong move downstate 10 days ago.
