Stakes Spot Plays for Remington Park

December 15th, 2022

A total of six black-type races will highlight a fine 12-race card at Remington Park on Saturday. I found a trio of horses that I believe will perform well during the major evening of racing.

Race 8 – Jim Thorpe S.

Oklahoma-bred sophomores will travel one-mile on the main strip in the $70,000 event. #6 Rowdy Rascal (6-1) has little current form, but the gelding has some early speed and looks like the one to run down as the field turns for home on Saturday. The multiple stakes hero has yet to build upon a smart two-year-old season, but he fits well in this spot and also has the right running style to be a danger at a fair price for trainer Boyd Caster. Tab the son of Den’s Legacy as a live contender with Alfredo Triana, Jr. in the stirrups.

Race 9 – Trapeze S.

Juvenile fillies will run one-mile on the dirt in the $100,000 contest for open foes. Of the trio of contenders from the Steve Asmussen shedrow, I like #4 Lucky Deputy (8-1) most of all in the affair. By Lookin at Lucky, the two-year-old miss aced her first dirt assignment in the maiden special weight ranks last time out on the course when delivering a smart late run, and I expect more of the same from her in this spot. The filly has posted a pair of decent morning drills in the interim, and I wouldn’t be surprised to see her tracking the early pace and being at the fore in the early stretch with Stewart Elliot back in the stirrups.

Race 10 – She’s All In S.

A talented field of 10 fillies and mares will go two turns in the affair. While there are numerous interesting contenders signed on for the event, I have to give top billing to Brad Cox’s #1 Famed (6-5). The Uncle Mo three-year-old is not a proven commodity going long, but she has been super impressive on numerous occasions while sprinting, and I have to think that she will be super tough to upend from off the pace on Saturday. The Godolphin homebred gets a dream rail draw and figures to save ground before getting her cue to mow them down in the lane under the guidance of Florent Geroux.
