Tampa Bay Downs: Horses to play in the $4,317 Super High 5 carryover
Sunday bettors will be happy to hear Tampa Bay Downs has a $4,317 non-jackpot Super High 5 carryover available to play in the afternoon’s third race.
Race 3 is a $5,000 claimer for older horses who haven’t won a race since Aug. 19, 2022. Seven horses have turned out to sprint 6 1/2 furlongs on dirt, which means there are only 2,520 possible Super High 5 outcomes. Since the minimum bet amount is $1, you could play every combination for $2,520 and make a profit if you were the only bettor to assemble a winning ticket.
Of course, winding up with a lone winning ticket seems unlikely in a field this small, so we’ll aim to play the Super High 5 on a considerably smaller budget. We’ll start by keying #7 Ask for Bode (7-5) on top. The obvious morning line favorite has finished second in two of his last three starts against $5,000 claiming company at Tampa Bay Downs, most recently rallying to miss by a neck on Feb. 4.
Ask for Bode owns the best Brisnet Speed ratings in Sunday’s field and retains the services of hot jockey Samy Camacho, a 25% winner at Tampa Bay Downs this year. If Ask for Bode brings his A-game, he can visit the winner’s circle at a short price.
While horses are the most important factor in handicapping any race, many bettors look toward jockey statistics to strengthen their opinions and separate top contenders.@J_Keelerman helps you understand rider stats 👇 https://t.co/asGyQ1e0YO

For the minor awards, the class-dropping #1 Colonist (4-1) is a logical contender, though he ran primarily on turf and synthetic last season and is returning from a layoff. A more trustworthy choice might be #5 Catching Fish (7-2), who has cracked the trifecta in two of his last three starts against $5,000 claiming competition at Tampa Bay Downs.
We’ll round out our tickets with #3 Loud N Proud (8-1), who finished fifth (seven lengths behind Ask for Bode) over this track and class level on Feb. 4; #4 Lucky Lover Boy (5-1), who finished a decent fifth in an $8,000 starter optional claimer at Tampa three starts back; and #6 Call Bros (10-1), sixth after dueling for the lead over this track and class level in December.
