Iroquois Stakes Contenders

#1 LIBERAL ARTS: Arrogate colt graduated with a game run in his third lifetime try at Ellis Park when coming home well despite a wide voyage. This Robert Medina pupil gets a bit more ground to work with in this spot, and he will benefit from drawing inside, as well. Christian Torres will be in the silks.

#2 WEST SARATOGA: Sneaky contender won well at the distance in his most recent showing and could be a danger at a nice price under Rafael Bejarano. The Larry Demeritte trainee has improved his Brisnet Speed figure in two straight in advance of Saturday and will be forwardly placed from the opening bell.

#3 UNION ROLL: Union Rags colt was not heavily backed on debut but powered home a sharp first-out winner at Monmouth Park for Todd Pletcher. The Calumet homebred is from a good family and is bred to run long, so the one-mile voyage will not pose a problem to him. This May foal will be doing his best work from off the pace under Gerardo Corrales.

#4 EDIFIED: The first of two Asmussen trainees was a fine winner on debut prior to being run off of his feet when fifth in the Saratoga Special S. (G2) last time out. The dark bay son of Tapit has trained in solid fashion in the interim, and he will benefit as much as any contender in the field with the added ground. Ricardo Santana, Jr. will be in the stirrups.

#5 MARKET STREET: Fleet one from the D. Wayne Lukas shedrow led to the turn for home in a route attempt most recently and gets back on his preferred oval on this occasion. The $275,000 son of Street Sense will be fit while making his fifth lifetime appearance, and the Kentucky-bred will be forcing the pace from the break with Luis Saez taking the reins.

#6 SEIZE THE GRAY: Lukas pupil graduated like a fine prospect at Saratoga two back, prior to finishing a late third in the off-the-turf Skidmore S. at The Spa. This talented son of Arrogate is cut out to be a route runner, and the colt could be a factor with his best performance on Saturday beneath Jaime Torres.

#7 GETTYSBURG ADDRESS: Brad Cox's charge is out of a fast mare and looked good in his first-out victory at Ellis Park. The Constitution colt has posted four good morning drills in advance of his stakes bow, and improvement is expected for a trainer who is quite good at sending them long for the initial time. Flavien Prat will be in the irons.

#8 RISK IT: Chestnut son of Gun Runner was a dynamic winner on debut when leading throughout at Saratoga and gets top billing. The $500,000 yearling purchase came home fast at six panels to hint that he will be able to run a mile with relative ease, and he will benefit from drawing outside of the other pace in the race, as well. Tyler Gaffalione retains the ride.

#9 PATRIOT SPIRIT: The bay son of Constitution was a professional and facile winner at Colonial Downs in his unveiling and could be a nice prospect for sure. This Michael Campbell trainee will need improvement to topple this field from the widest post assignment, but the $235,000 juvenile but could be an exotics piece at nice odds, nonetheless. Jesus Castanon keeps the mount.
