The number of Road to the Kentucky Derby prep races held last weekend. Three major events — the Santa Anita Derby (G1), the Blue Grass (G2), and the Wood Memorial (G2) — were originally on the agenda, but all three have been postponed or cancelled because of the COVID-19 outbreak.

The margin of victory, in lengths, posted by Candy Machine in a 1 1/16-mile allowance on Friday at Gulfstream Park. Trained by Chad Brown, the stoutly bred son of Candy Ride pressed the pace and held off a late challenger to prevail gamely in 1:43.31, a quick time indicative of Candy Machine’s budding talent.

The number of Road to the Kentucky Derby qualification points earned by 2019 Kentucky Jockey Club (G2) runner-up Finnick the Fierce. On Saturday the gelded son of Dialed In won a 1 1/16-mile allowance at Oaklawn via disqualification, which sets him up for a potential start in the May 2 Arkansas Derby (G1).

The number of workouts posted this winter by Bob Baffert’s unraced Cezanne, who sold for $3.65 million as a 2-year-old in training. The son of Curlin recently shipped from Los Alamitos to Santa Anita, where he will continue preparing for his much-anticipated debut.

The number of points currently required to rank in the top 20 on the Road to the Kentucky Derby leaderboard. San Felipe (G2) runner-up Honor A. P. narrowly occupies the final spot, edging Untitled through a tiebreaker. But with the Road to the Kentucky Derby schedule in shambles, there’s no telling how many points will be needed to qualify.

The son of Palace Malice is currently on the sideline with an ankle injury, but the postponement of the Kentucky Derby (G1) should give him time to recover and return to training well in advance of the first Saturday in September.
