The number of new races added to the Japan Road to the Kentucky Derby. The 1,600-meter Unicorn (G3) on June 21 at Tokyo Racecourse and the 2,000-meter Japan Dirt Derby at Oi Racecourse will both award 68 qualification points to the top four finishers, on a 40-16-8-4 basis.

The Road to the Kentucky Derby leaderboard ranking reached by the undefeated Maxfield, following his victory in Saturday’s Matt Winn (G3) at Churchill Downs.

The winner of the Breeders’ Futurity (G1) as a juvenile, the Godolphin homebred showed grit and determination to overcome a wide trip and prevail by a length in the Matt Winn. He picked up 50 qualification points to boost his total to 60.

The number of Japan Road to the Kentucky Derby qualification points accumulated by Dieu du Vin, winner of the Cattleya Sho at Tokyo Racecourse last fall.

The son of Declaration of War recently battled to a narrow victory in the 1,600-meter Seiryu S. at Tokyo, which potentially stets  him up for a run in the Unicorn and/or Japan Dirt Derby.

The number of days until the Blue Grass (G2) at Keeneland.

The Road to the Kentucky Derby prep race has been rescheduled for July 11, which gives Kentucky’s best 3-year-olds an opportunity to vie for the winner’s prize of 100 Derby qualification points.

The number of Road to the Kentucky Derby qualification points accumulated by Ny Traffic, who gamely battled to a runner-up effort in the Matt Winn.

Previously second in the Louisiana Derby (G2) and third in a division of the Risen Star (G2), Ny Traffic has yet to break through for a win in a Road to the Kentucky Derby prep race, but his consistency in major events has carried him all the way to eighth place on the qualification leaderboard.

The traditional third jewel of the Triple Crown has been rescheduled for June 20, which makes it the first leg of the 2020 series and a major stepping stone toward the Kentucky Derby.
