The Jugette And The Buckette Highlight Femme Divisions

Glamour-girl pacers and trotters are featured in this edition during the Little Brown Jug meet in the Jugette and the Buckette.

Two short filly fields make up the elimination heats of the Jugette at the Delaware, Ohio fair. The top three-year-old pacer finishers in each elim go on to a final heat on the same day, Wednesday, Sept. 20,later in the long, weekday program, which is why we have posted this week’s “Countdown” ahead of time (that and it is a stakes-heavy week).

The elims may provide the best betting propositions, so let’s look at them as individual features and go for a profit that may outweigh playing the final.

Five go in elim one ($54,650), with the obvious Blazin Britches a huge public choice. She has been a dynamo in the second half of the season, out-pacing the best, including Agent Q, who is nowhere near Ohio today.

However, Obvious Blue Chip will get support, too, leaving three others to consider for either upsets or to ruin an exacta combo for the favorite-hungry crowd.

The dangerous third wheel, so to speak, is Nancy Johansson’s Jaye’s A Lady. Though the driver will attract some bettors, this filly could surprise in the elim, even if she tanks in the final. She is definitely in the race for as much of a share as she can earn and her trainer is always sending her stock out in great spots to make money.

The second $54,650 Jugette elim heat has six and looks far more competitive than the two-prong favorite first elim heat.

This is the perfect situation for the crowd to ignore Idyllic Beach. A good price on this gal may be guaranteed considering Caviart Ally in the 1 hole and Tequila Monday in the 3 hole. Trainer Jimmy Takter always has his stock ready for this meet and there are times where his students pay much better than they do in events elsewhere.

The $80,575 Buckette brings together soph-filly trotters as the co-feature on the penultimate program for 2017.

A big public choice here should be Satin Dancer, who has earned the most and won the most. You don’t need a consultation with an expert in harness racing to back her blindly but should she win you won’t need an investment advisor either because the returns will be minor.

Instead, take into consideration Maewegonow.

Maewegonow would have been on the main blog in the horses-to-watch list for the second time but Charlie Norris’ trained and driven student shows up here. She raced at Vernon last week and travels to Ohio for this main event. There are enough brand names here to steer the crowd away from her, giving her better odds for her good chances of picking up a major, if not the major, part of the purse.
