The Jury: Expert Picks, Bets, and Fades for April 11-12, 2025

April 10th, 2025

The TwinSpires Jury of James Scully, Ashley Anderson, and Darin Zoccali are back to defend their best bets and fades of the week at Keeneland, host of the final stop on the Road to the Kentucky Derby on Saturday, and Oaklawn Park, where Thorpedo Anna is set to make her second start of her four-year-old campaign.

In Lexington, Keeneland's spring meet continues with a collection of stakes over the weekend, starting with the 5 1/2-furlong Limestone S. for three-year-old fillies on the turf. Then, in Race 9 on Friday, the Maker's Mark Mile (G1) will mark the season debut of Grade 1 winner Carl Spackler, who last came home sixth in the Breeders' Cup Mile (G1) on Nov. 2 at Del Mar.

The 9-5 morning-line favorite for trainer Chad Brown will clash with turf star Integration, who is cutting back in distance in his second start of his five-year-old campaign, and four-year-old Trikari, who tallied victories in the American Turf (G2) at Churchill Downs and the Secretariat (G2) at Colonial Downs last year.

On Saturday, the 1 1/16-mile Lexington (G3) will award the winner 20 points toward the Kentucky Derby (G1) leaderboard and features Brown's Praetor, an Into Mischief colt who is 2-for-3 lifetime, along with a pair from Kenny McPeek's barn — debut winner Hypnus and Calumet Farm's Native Runner.

Later on Keeneland's Saturday card, fillies and mares compete in the Jenny Wiley (G1), where Brown will go for a fourth consecutive win and seventh in the last eight runnings. He will be represented by European invader Excellent Truth, who will make her U.S. debut coming off a more than eight-month layoff.

On Sunday, Keeneland will host one more graded stakes event with the 5 1/2-furlong Giant's Causeway (G3) for fillies and mares on the turf.

Oaklawn Park will also attract plenty of eyes this weekend with the return of 2024 Horse of the Year Thorpedo Anna. She will make her second start of the season in the Apple Blossom H. (G1) after dominating in the Azeri (G2) at the same track in March.
