Three singles for three carryovers at Arlington Park

September 4th, 2021

Did you know there are three non-jackpot carryovers on the agenda for Saturday at Arlington Park?

Here’s how the action is shaping up:

  • Race 1: $11,743 carryover in the 20-cent Pick 8 (3:29 p.m. ET)
  • Race 2: $518 carryover in the 20-cent Pick 7 (4:03 p.m. ET)
  • Race 3: $4,194 carryover in the 20-cent Pick 6 (4:37 p.m. ET)

Larry Rivelli, Arlington’s leading trainer, appears to hold a strong hand across the eight-race card. Rivelli’s 37% win rate at Arlington this season is sensational, so to keep our ticket costs down, we’ll plan on singling the three formidable Rivelli trainees outlined below:

Race 1: $5,000 Starter Allowance: #4 Dive Deep (5-2)

A lightly raced four-year-old with a solid 8-4-0-2 career resume, Dive Deep was tons the best in a $7,500 claimer on Aug. 20 at Arlington, leading all the way to trounce his pursuers by 5 1/4 lengths. The 87 Brisnet Speed rating he received stands as the highest last-out figure in Saturday’s six-horse field.

Dive Deep was claimed out of that win by Rivelli, who wins at a 33% rate with new claiming acquisitions. Even better, Rivelli strikes at a 50% rate with horses dropping in class off a victory, stamping Dive Deep as a logical favorite to win this six-furlong starter allowance. Keep in mind, 52% of Arlington’s six-furlong Polytrack sprints are won in gate-to-wire fashion.

Race 4: $25,000 Claiming: #2 Kennesaw (5-2)

Did you know Kennesaw boasts a flashy 5-2-3-0 lifetime record sprinting five furlongs on turf at Arlington? The three-year-old gelding looks like a formidable favorite while sticking to his preferred course and distance for this $25,000 claimer.

Kennesaw has been competing with aplomb against much tough company, entering off back-to-back runner-up efforts in $75,000 allowance optional claimers. The son of Commissioner has tactical speed and brings competitive Brisnet Speed ratings to the equation, so dropping in class might be all he needs to visit the winner’s circle.

Race 6: $7,500 Claiming: #2 Can’t Hide From Me (7-5)

The best recent Brisnet Speed ratings in this 1 1/16-mile claimer belong to Can’t Hide From Me, who has posted four straight figures in the 80-93 range since being transferred to Rivelli’s care. Three of those figures (including the 93) came in 1 1/16-mile events at Arlington.

Can’t Hide From Me sharpened up for this $7,500 claimer by finishing fifth in a $20,000 allowance optional claimer sprinting six furlongs on Aug. 14. Stretching back out in distance (and dropping back down in class) should make Can’t Hide From Me tough to beat under hot jockey E. T. Baird, a 35% winner when teaming up with Rivelli.

Good luck!
