Springboard Mile Stakes Wagers

Springboard Mile Stakes Contenders

#1 ECHO AGAIN: Impressed with a superb debut win at Saratoga in the summer prior to fading in the lane in the Iroquois S. (G3) most recently. The Steve Asmussen trainee has been working well in the interim, and if the son of Gun Runner repeats his first offering, he will be tough to run down late from the rail. Ricardo Santana will guide the chestnut.

#2 GUNFLASH: Rallied from off of the pace to record a smart first-out victory on the surface for trainer Karl Broberg. The bay son of Gun Runner has obvious talent and is bred to handle this distance for a conditioner who is having a good measure of success at the venue. Gunflash retains the services of Christian Torres.

#3 CAMPFIRE CREED: Is a neck and a nose from being unbeaten from four lifetime tries to date for trainer Danny Pish. The Jimmy Creed chestnut is proven on the course and is surely cut out to thrive at the distance, being a colt who possesses a fine turn of foot. He will be in range turning for home with Gerardo Mora in the stirrups.

#4 LIL SWEET THANG: Has rolled home to a pair of wins from a trio of lifetime tries to date for trainer Donnie von Hemel. The gelded son of Caleb’s Posse can run from on or off the early tempo en route to success, and he has been working in solid fashion at this venue this campaign. Luis Quinonez will guide the stalker.

#5 GIANT MISCHIEF: Has rallied to earn a pair of victories from as many tries to start his career for conditioner Brad Cox. The bay son of Into Mischief earned a hefty 99 Brisnet Speed figure for his recent allowance triumph and seems poised to thrive getting an extra furlong with which to work with on this occasion. The $475,000 colt will have go-to pilot Florent Geroux in the controls.

#6 AMERICAN OUTLAW: Came home runner-up in a decent allowance effort most recently and will race without blinkers for the first time in this spot. The American Pharoah two-year-old has performed well in each of his pair of outings at Remington Park, and if the equipment change moves him forward, he will be a contender inside the final furlong with Jose Alvarez up.

#7 GHOST HERO: Comes in with a pair of black-type tallies over Oklahoma-bred runners in succession and rates a top-three chance with even minor improvement on Saturday. The $77,000 son of Shaman Ghost held on gamely in his first try at the distance last time out and fired a bullet five-eighths in his most recent morning move. The versatile sort will be prompting the early tempo from the opening bell.

#8 MONEY RUN: Was outrun in a recent allowance tilt at the distance and will need a huge step forward to make noise in this spot for Asmussen. The Runhappy colt has some tactical speed and will never be far back from the start beneath Stewart Elliot.

#9 WILDATLANTICSTORM: Has finished first or second in each of his five career engagements for trainer Ray Ashford. The chestnut son of Stormy Atlantic has shown nice progression this campaign and will be a top-three presence with a step forward on Saturday. Leandro Goncalves inherits the mount.
