Tipsheet: The 2021 Springboard Mile S.

A solid field of nine two-year-old prospects will travel one mile at Remington Park on Friday in the $400,000 Springboard Mile S. The 2022 Road to the Kentucky Derby challenge series event will reward the top four finishers with points on a 10-4-2-1 basis.

Springboard Mile Stakes Contenders

#1 CONCEPT bagged the Kuip Deville S. here two back, prior to tiring late in the Clever Trevor S. most recently. The Gun Runner homebred has speed and the rail, and the chestnut is an obvious exotics contender beneath Carlos Montalvo.

#2 MAKE IT BIG ships in from the Sunshine State coming off two fine tallies for trainer Saffie Joseph. The dark bay Neolithic two-year-old has obvious ability and looms as a big chance if he proves capable of running with open company. Jose Ortiz inherits the mount.

#3 BYE BYE BOBBY rallied from well back to win a stakes race on debut at Zia Park. The Todd Fincher trainee has trained in smart fashion all season, and if he runs to his $870,000 price tag, the son of Quality Road will be a prime contender with Roimes Chirinos retaining the ride.

#4 SHAMAYIM has improved with each lifetime try to date, but the recent allowance third still needs a major move forward to make an impact with this cast.

#5 CLASSIC MOMENT defeated a solid prospect in game fashion at Churchill Downs last time out. One of two for trainer Steve Asmussen, the $350,000 yearling buy shows two local drills and will receive Lasix for the first time. Stewart Elliott will be in the stirrups.

#6 ROWDY RASCAL rolls in with three wins in succession on the surface for trainer Boyd Caster. The Oklahoma-bred has the homecourt edge over many of his foes, and the gelding can make the frame in his second attempt at the distance with continued improvement.

#7 RICH STRIKE drew off by a convincing 17 lengths to break his maiden two back, prior to making a belated run to be third in a Keeneland allowance tilt. The Keen Ice chestnut is bred to run long, and it wouldn’t be surprising to see him pass runners late in hopes of securing a placing.

#8 REVENIR put in his best effort to date when a rallying runner-up in the Clever Trevor S. on the course last time out. The Hard Spun youngster likes the course and distance, but he will need another step in the right direction to factor late on Friday.

#9 OSBOURNE gets top billing following two strong maiden efforts for trainer Ron Moquett. The gelded son of Tapiture has displayed both speed and the ability to carry it at this stage of his development, and he should sit a dream trip stalking the pace from his outside post slot. Regular pilot Julien Leparoux has the assignment.
