Tiz the Bomb: Kentucky Derby contender profile
Tiz the Bomb secured his Kentucky Derby berth by recording a convincing win in the Jeff Ruby Steaks (G3) at Turfway Park, registering top-notch 101 Brisnet Speed and 105 Late Pace ratings for the 2 1/4-length decision. A Grade 2 winner on turf and runner-up in the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Turf (G1), the bay Kentucky-bred colt’s last two stakes wins have come on Tapeta, and Tiz the Bomb must transfer his fine turf/synthetic form to dirt in the Kentucky Derby. The late runner may receive a favorable setup, and if he handles the kickback, Tiz the Bomb will look to make an impact in the final furlongs.
