History of Horse Racing at Assiniboia Downs

Assiniboia Downs is a Canadian race track in Winnipeg, Manitoba. The track is operated by the Manitoba Jockey Club and is the home of the annual Manitoba Derby, a non-graded stakes event for 3-year-olds that has been held since 1997. Assiniboia opened in 1958 to replace the former Polo Park Racetrack, which had been in operation since 1925.
