Best Bets and Quick Picks

Zia Park: Race 6: Zia Park Championship S. (1 1/16 miles on dirt, 4:25 p.m. ET)

#4 Heroic Move (9-2) is dropping in class out of four straight graded stakes. During the spring he won the Steve Sexton Mile (G3), and two starts back he finished second by half a length in the West Virginia Governor’s (G3) at Mountaineer.

Heroic Move brings strong Brisnet Speed ratings to the Zia Park Championship and has every chance to spring a mild upset under hot jockey Harry Hernandez. Let’s bet Heroic Move to win and single him to start a Pick 3.

Selections

  • #4 Heroic Move (9-2)
  • #2 Mine That Star (9-5)
  • #6 Unload (2-1)

Wagers

  • $20 to win on #4 Heroic Move
  • $10 Pick 3: 4 with 3 with 10
    Total: $30

Zia Park: Race 7: Zia Park Juvenile S. (six furlongs on dirt, 4:53 p.m. ET)

California raider #3 Smash It (7-5) has been competing on turf as of late, most notably running second by a neck in the Speakeasy S. But he’s also shown strong form in maiden special weights on dirt. During the summer at Del Mar, he finished second by less than a length against future Breeders’ Cup Juvenile (G1) winner Citizen Bull, after which Smash It broke his maiden with a strong 99 Brisnet Speed rating.

Returning to dirt for the Zia Park Juvenile should make Smash It mighty tough to beat for the red-hot jockey/trainer duo of Alfredo Juarez Jr. and Todd Fincher, who have teamed up to win at a 28% rate over the last two months. Let’s single Smash It to start a double wager.

Selections

  • #3 Smash It (7-5)
  • #2 Ring Seeker (5-2)
  • #5 Don’t Fly Stand By (6-1)

Wagers

  • $20 Double: 3 with 10

Zia Park: Race 8: Zia Park Princess S. (six furlongs on dirt, 5:21 p.m. ET)

#10 Reliable Source (3-1) won a 6 1/2-furlong maiden special weight during the summer at Saratoga, then faded after a speed duel to finish sixth in the Spinaway (G1) behind future Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies (G1) winner Immersive.

Squaring off against easier competition in the Zia Park Princess should allow Reliable Source to rebound for the hot jockey/trainer duo of Jose Ortiz and Steve Asmussen, who have gone 4-for-7 (57%) teaming up together over the last two months.

Let’s bet Reliable Source to win and single her to conclude our double and Pick 3 wagers.

Selections

  • #10 Reliable Source (3-1)
  • #9 Kanojo (10-1)
  • #4 Innocence (9-2)

Wagers

  • $25 to win on #10 Reliable Source

Good luck!
