Turf Stakes Selections for Woodbine Sept. 9
A pair of competitive graded stakes tilts on the Woodbine turf will lead the day of racing north of the border on Saturday.
Race 8: Singspiel S. (G3)
The 1 1/4-mile event for the boys attracted a solid field of eight that lacks a clear standout, in my opinion. Roger Attfield’s #1 Ready for the Lady (8-1) has delivered a trio of good performances at this venue as of late and will aim to defend his title in the contest. The chestnut son of More Than Ready has won or placed in five of his six prior tries on the surface, and he figures to benefit from a ground-saving voyage from the innermost post slot here. Emma-Jayne Wilson will guide the late runner.
Michael Doyle’s #8 Malibu Mambo (6-1) has very good current form, and the son of Point of Entry also looked the part when defeating allowance foes at the distance here in his latest venture, as well. The dark bay Ontario-bred has good positional speed in a field lacking a lot of pace, and Dylan Davis will have him well-placed as the field approaches the turn for home.

Race 10: Canadian S. (G2)
A fantastic field of seven fillies and mares will run about 1 1/8 miles in the exciting affair. Champion #2 Moira (3-1) has been a bit unlucky while being runner-up in each of her trio of races in 2023 and will break through with clear sailing in this venture. The standout daughter of Ghostzapper has yet to win from four lifetime tries on the green, but she has performed quite well on the carpet, nonetheless. After rallying into slow paces in two races in succession, the four-year-old will receive a more honest tempo to work with on Saturday with Rafael Hernandez staying in the silks.
Stylish Beverly D. S. (G1) queen #1 Fev Rover (8-5), Dance Smartly S. (G2) heroine #3 Miss Dracarys (3-1), Shug McGaughey’s #4 Skims (6-1), and Group 3 winner #5 Atomic Blonde (8-1) will all be included in the vertical exotics.
