Turfway Park: 2022 My Charmer Stakes Exotics Plays
An overflow field of 14 fillies and mares will run 1 1/16 miles on the Turfway Park synthetic surface in Sunday’s $125,000 My Charmer S. In a contest where the pace is expected to be swift and contested, I will look to the pair of horses drawn inside to decide the race inside the final furlong.
My Charmer Wagers
- $10 exacta: box 1, 2 ($20)
- 50-cent trifecta: 1, 2 with 1, 2, 6 with all ($20)
- 20-cent superfecta: 1, 2 with 1, 2, 6 with 1, 2, 6 with all ($7.20)
- 10-cent superfecta: 1, 2 with 1, 2, 6 with all with 1, 2, 6 ($3.60)
#1 Kate’s Kingdom (3-1) is in the top form of her career in advance of making her first start for conditioner William Walden. By Animal Kingdom, she has improved her Brisnet Speed figure in each of her last two engagements, topped by a victory in the Ontario Matron S. (G3) last time out.
Kate’s Kingdom dons a smart 7-3-2-1 mark on synthetic ovals in her lifetime and sped a swift half-mile on this course in her latest morning breeze. The four-year-old has a fine turn of foot and will be running them down late with Jack Gilligan taking the reins.
#2 Lashara (6-1) is not overly consistent, and she has yet to run on an All-Weather oval, but she is more than capable of firing a big shot on any kind of surface when she is on top of her game. The Mike Maker trainee rallied for a nice allowance victory at Aqueduct two races prior, and the five-year-old will receive ample early pace to aid her stout late kick.
The American Pharoah mare seems poised to save ground to the top of the lane before putting in her best run inside the final furlong on Saturday. She will have Gerardo Corrales in the stirrups.
#6 Burning Ambition (5-2) has never run a bad race in her career for conditioner Brad Cox. The Grade 1-placed stakes heroine is another who will be making her synthetic debut in the field, but she is impossible to omit due to her class and consistency. The Uncle Mo four-year-old will be forcing the early tempo from the break under the guidance of Chris Landeros.
