Turfway Park: How to bet the 2022 Prairie Bayou Stakes

December 15th, 2022

An overflow field of 14 will travel 1 1/16 miles in the $125,000 Prairie Bayou S. at Turfway Park on Saturday. The All-Weather feature boasts numerous contenders in a race that is surely worth taking a shot at with a potential hefty payout more than possible.

I feel that #3 Accredit (10-1) had a fine prep for this event when an allowance second on the surface off the short absence last time out, and the accomplished son of Flatter gets the slight nod in the competitive cast. Trained by Pavel Matejka, the four-year-old proved to be more than capable of running from off of the early tempo most recently when making a huge middle move prior to being caught at the wire, and the bay should move up second time back. Accredit will get the jump on the deep closing types on Saturday with Luan Machado in the stirrups.

#9 Here Mi Song (6-1) brings fine current form to the field for trainer William Stinson, Jr. By Cross Traffic, the four-year-old gelding has been first or second in seven of his previous eight outings in total, and the gray has also displayed the ability to handle the synthetic, as well. Here Mi Song has registered lifetime best Brisnet Speed figures in two straight and would not be a surprise with Samuel Bermudez picking up the ride.

Grade 1 victor #1 In Love (4-1) is arguably the class of the field and a must-use for Paulo Lobo. The Agnes Gold six-year-old has never raced on the All-Weather, but his substantial ability on the lawn should translate well to this strip while he also receives a measure of class relief. The Brazilian-bred bay will be formidable inside the final furlong with Gerardo Corrales in the silks.

Grade 2 winner #4 Field Pass (6-1) has not won since 2021, but the Lemon Drop Kid five-year-old has been facing top competition along the way and makes sense in this spot. The Mike Maker pupil is one-for-one on the oval and figures to sit a good trip a few lengths off the pace to the top of the lane. Joseph Ramos will be in the irons.
