Betting Tampa's $40,548 Super High 5 carryover, Gulfstream's Pick 6 mandatory payout

After a 21-1 longshot won the final race at Tampa Bay Downs on Saturday, there’s a $40,548 Super High 5 carryover available in the first race on Sunday’s card.
Assembling a winning ticket for the $1 wager won’t be easy. Race 1 is a $16,000 maiden claimer for three-year-old fillies racing one mile on turf, and an overflow field of 14 horses (including two also-eligibles) has entered.
Nevertheless, we’ll aim to win a share of the carryover:

Tampa Bay Downs Race 1 $40,548 Super High 5 carryover: analysis
The fact #13 Dorotea Dream (7-2) is on the also-eligible list complicates our ticket planning. She’s dropping in class after finishing sixth in a $32,000 maiden claimer at Tampa and will be formidable if she draws in, but that’s not guaranteed.
Aside from Dorotea Dream, #9 Backseat Romance (3-1) and #4 Michaela (5-2) are obvious win contenders. Backseat Romance has finished second in her last two starts over this course and class level, while Michaela is dropping in class out of $32,000 maiden claimers and has finished second at the $16,000 level in the past.
#8 Thunder Princess (5-1) doesn’t necessarily appear poised to visit the winner’s circle, but a spot in the top five is within reach. She’s finished fifth or better in each of her last five starts against $16,000 maiden claiming competition at Tampa Bay Downs, including two on turf.
#1 Goonie (12-1) is a tough horse to analyze. Two of her last three starts over this course and class level have yielded defeats by double-digit margins. But the other saw her finish second by a head with a competitive 68 Brisnet Speed rating.
#12 When in Roma (5-1) finished behind Goonie two starts back, but she’s more consistent overall and hasn’t finished out of the top four in four straight $16,000 maiden claimers over the Tampa turf. Another competitive finish appears likely.
We’ll round out our tickets with second-time starter #2 Spun to Perfection (6-1), Gulfstream Park shipper #3 Weather Lady (30-1), and the capable midrange longshot #11 Anna Jean (12-1).
Bonus carryover: Gulfstream Park $288,448 Rainbow Pick 6 mandatory payout
The Sunday card at Gulfstream Park is highlighted by the mandatory payout of a $288,448 carryover in the 20-cent Rainbow Pick 6. The final pool is estimated to reach $3 million.
The Pick 6 gets underway in Race 7. Bettors seeking a single to build tickets around should check out Race 8, a maiden special weight for three-year-olds racing 1 1/16 miles on dirt.
We favor the chances of #4 Only in America (2-1). This Triple Crown nominee has produced two good tries against quality competition over this distance and class level. He debuted with a runner-up finish at Gulfstream Park against next-out Holy Bull (G3) winner Burnham Square, then ran third against the grain of an inside bias at Fair Grounds.
Returning to a (presumably) fair track at Gulfstream can send Only in America to the winner’s circle for the hot jockey/trainer duo of Irad Ortiz Jr. and Todd Pletcher.
Good luck!
