Today’s TwinSpires tournaments include:

Gulfstream Park: Race 7: $503,491 Rainbow Pick 6 mandatory payout (3:14 p.m. ET)

A massive $503,491 carryover in Gulfstream Park’s 20-cent Rainbow Pick 6 is slated for mandatory payout on Saturday. The final pool is estimated to reach the $5 million range.

Planning to play, but not sure where to begin? We’ve got you covered with a suggested single in Race 9, a $62,500 allowance optional claimer for older horses racing a one-turn dirt mile. Morning-line favorite #4 Knightsbridge (7-5) is hands-down the horse to beat.

Knightsbridge dominated his first two starts, winning a seven-furlong maiden special weight at Churchill Downs by 10 1/2 lengths and a one-mile $75,000 allowance optional claimer at Gulfstream by nine lengths. The latter victory came at the expense of next-out Long Branch S. winner Sea Streak.

Nearly seven months later, Knightsbridge made his third start in the seven-furlong Perryville (G3) at Keeneland. After dropping farther off the pace than usual, Knightsbridge rallied to finish third by one length. The runner-up, Book’em Danno, had previously won the Woody Stephens (G1).

Knightsbridge has turned in fast workouts in advance of his four-year-old debut, so coming back from a four-month layoff shouldn’t be an issue. The fact he’s returning to the configuration of his blowout 2024 allowance win cements Knightsbridge as a reliable Pick 6 single.

Fair Ground: Race 9: $3,612 Pick 6 carryover (5:00 p.m. ET)

Saturday’s stakes-packed card at Fair Grounds includes a $3,612 carryover in the $1 Pick 6.

The feature event is Race 14, the Risen Star (G2), an important Road to the Kentucky Derby qualifier. But bettors seeking a single to build tickets around are advised to check out Race 13, the Rachel Alexandra (G2), a 1 1/16-mile Road to the Kentucky Oaks qualifier.

#2 Good Cheer (6-5) is unbeaten and basically unchallenged in four starts. Last fall, the Brad Cox-trained filly won the Rags to Riches S. and Golden Rod (G2) on the Road to the Kentucky Oaks. With Brisnet Speed ratings of 93, 92, and 90 under her belt, she ranks among the fastest fillies in the Rachel Alexandra field.

If Good Cheer improves at all in her three-year-old debut, she’ll be tough to beat. Keep in mind, hot trainer Brad Cox wins at a 24% rate with horses returning from layoffs of 46-90 days, so there’s no reason to think Good Cheer won’t bring her A game.

Good luck!
