Santa Anita: Artislas the key to the Eddie Logan Stakes
A solid group of eight juvenile colts will run one mile on the Santa Anita lawn in Sunday’s $100,000 Eddie Logan S. Grade 3 winner #6 Artislas looks best in the group and I will key him on top in my plays. Trained by Jeff Mullins, the bay son of Catalina Cruiser rallied for a debut win when sprinting at Del Mar and followed that up with a nice score in the Del Mar Juvenile Turf (G3) in his route debut.

Eddie Logan Stakes Betting Analysis
Artislas finished first, only to be taken down and placed third in the subsequent Zuma Beach S. (G3) on this course two back, and he was last seen going unplaced during Breeders’ Cup weekend following a poor start in a deep field. The $100,000 two-year-old purchase comes in fresh and his last pair of morning drills were swift ones. He will track a moderate early tempo while always in range to the top of the lane, prior to taking over inside the final furlong with Flavien Prat in the saddle.
Tim Yakteen’s #1 Sabertooth is still a maiden, but the talented youngster was runner-up in both the Del Mar Juvenile Turf and the Zuma Beach this season. By Grazen, the Maryland-bred colt burned a lot of money when second in the maiden ranks at Del Mar most recently, but he closed well in defeat, and he also earned his career-best Brisnet Speed figure in his lone run on this carpet. The February foal will save ground while unhurried early on with strong turf pilot Umberto Rispoli taking the reins.
#5 Cano For The Win was a smart runner-up when making his turf debut at Del Mar on October 31 and will make the aggressive move from the maiden ranks on this occasion for conditioner Doug O’Neill. The son of Omaha Beach has grassy influences on both sides of his catalog page, and he displayed good late energy most recently after having just one horse beat early on in the contest. Hector Berrios does a lot of good work on the lawn and will be in the silks atop the late-running colt.
I also have to toss in #2 King of Dragons for Richard Baltas The improving California-bred defeated Sabertooth last time and is moving in the right direction this campaign. Kazushi Kimura retains the ride aboard the son of Sir Prancealot.
