Aqueduct: Race 3: $24,979 Pick 6 carryover (2:08 p.m. ET)

The Sunday card at Aqueduct is highlighted by a $24,979 carryover in the $1 Pick 6.

Looking for a single to build tickets around? Check out #4 She’s Always Rosie (8-5) in Race 5, a $25,000 claimer for fillies and mares who have never won two races. There isn’t much speed in this 6 1/2-furlong dirt sprint, and She’s Always Rosie—who has led or dueled for the lead in each of her last four starts—appears likely to secure a favorable trip on the front end.

She’s Always Rosie has been in hot form since being claimed by trainer Linda Rice last April. In her first start for Rice, She’s Always Rosie wired a six-furlong maiden special weight at Aqueduct. Then she ran second in a six-furlong $50,000 starter allowance at Saratoga.

She’s Always Rosie then misfired with a fifth-place finish in another $50,000 starter allowance at Saratoga, but after taking five months off, she returned on Jan. 12 with a fine try in a $40,000 claimer for non-winners of two races. Sprinting 6 1/2 furlongs at Aqueduct, She’s Always Rosie set the pace before staying on for second place.

Rice wins at a 22% rate with horses running back for the second time following a layoff, and jockey Kendrick Carmouche has gone 7-for-15 (47%) teaming up with Rice over the last two months, so the stage is set for She’s Always Rosie to shine while dropping into a $25,000 claimer.

Santa Anita: Race 4: $53,273 Pick 6 carryover (post time 3:33 p.m. ET)

Sunday’s $1 Pick 6 at Santa Anita features an enticing $53,273 carryover.

Bettors in search of a single should support heavy favorite #7 Major Tom (4-5) in Race 8, a $6,250 allowance optional claimer restricted to horses or horsemen based in Northern California since Jan. 1, 2024.

The six-furlong dirt dash has drawn only seven entries, and Major Tom looks tough to beat. True, he misfired in a $12,500 starter optional claimer over this track and distance last month, finishing ninth. But that race didn’t carry the Northern California restriction.

Major Tom had previously shown fine form in Northern California. In December, he won $10,000 and $20,000 claimers at Pleasanton with strong Brisnet Speed ratings of 84 and 86. Dropping in class on Sunday should allow Major Tom to rebound and secure victory at a short price.

Good luck!
