Horseshoe Indianapolis: Race 1: Allowance (5 1/2 furlongs on dirt, 2:10 p.m. ET)

#7 Mondavila (6-1) is an intriguing price play in the first race of the Horseshoe Indianapolis meet. He showed promise sprinting over this track as a two-year-old last year, most notably wiring the six-furlong Crown Ambassador S. with a sharp 72 Brisnet Speed rating.

Mondavila enters off fast workouts at Horseshoe Indianapolis (including a bullet five furlongs in :59 1/5) and is slated to race on Lasix for the first time, a 23% winning move for trainer Randy Klopp. A large win bet is in order.

Horseshoe Indianapolis: Race 7: $55,000 Handicap (5 1/2 furlongs on dirt, 5:16 p.m. ET)

#1 Goodlookinjustice (9-2) went 4-for-4 sprinting at Horseshoe Indianapolis last year. He led from gate-to-wire in all four of those starts, including when defeating #2 Molly’s Town (7-2) by 1 1/4 lengths in the Hoosier Breeders Sophomore H.

Goodlookinjustice has been freshened since October, when he tired from a pacesetting position to finish ninth in a tough edition of Keeneland’s seven-furlong Perryville (G3). Returning to Horseshoe Indianapolis should set the stage for Goodlookinjustice to rebound.

Molly’s Town and #9 Latigo (2-1) can battle to complete the exacta.

#2 Order of Merit (3-1) impressed in a six-furlong allowance at Will Rogers Downs last month. Making his first start of the year, the five-year-old gelding led all the way through intense fractions of :21.62 and :43.91 to prevail by 1 1/2 lengths over next-out stakes winner #6 C W Prize (2-1).

We’ll count on Order of Merit to maintain his advantage over C W Prize, betting an exacta using C W Prize and the red-hot Texas shipper #3 Blue Light (9-5) for second place.
