Best Bets and Quick Picks
Tampa Bay Downs: Race 2: $5,000 Claiming (six furlongs on dirt, 12:55 p.m. ET)
#8 Top Look (5-2) has run well in three recent starts over this track and class level. She’s sandwiched third-place finishes in $10,000 and $6,250 claimers around a victory in a $5,000 claimer.
Returning to the $5,000 level can send Top Look back to the winner’s circle under hot jockey Samuel Marin, a 21% winner at Tampa Bay Downs. We’ll keep our wagering strategy simple with a win bet.
Selections
- #8 Top Look (5-2)
- #2 Keep On Rockin (3-1)
- #6 I Believe in Magic (7-2)
Wagers
- $30 to win on #8 Top Look
Turf Paradise: Race 3: $10,000-$8,500 Maiden Claiming (five furlongs on dirt, 4:55 p.m. ET)
Most of the horses entered in this $8,500 maiden claimer have already lost at this class level or lower. #3 It’s Not the Law (8-1) is an exception. The five-year-old mare has only run once, finishing fifth in a $25,000-$20,000 maiden claimer sprinting six furlongs at Turf Paradise.
Dropping down to the $10,000-$8,500 level may allow It’s Not the Law to challenge for victory at enticing odds. Let’s bet her to win.
Selections
- #3 It’s Not the Law (8-1)
- #5 K V Candy (7-2)
- #4 Track Robber (3-1)
Wagers
- $20 to win on #3 It’s Not the Law
Turfway Park: Race 6: $25,000-$20,000 Allowance Optional Claiming (one mile on dirt, 6:23 p.m. ET)
Stretch-running #2 Surprsinglyperfect (7-2) has been in sharp form racing one mile at Turf Paradise this year. First he dominated a $16,000-$12,500 allowance optional claimer by four lengths. Then he finished second by a head in a $25,000-$20,000 allowance optional claimer. Most recently he won a $20,000-$16,000 starter optional claimer by a head.
There should be enough pace in Wednesday’s field to set up a winning rally from Surprsinglyperfect, so let’s round out our plays with a win bet and an exacta using #4 Stamp My Passport (5-2) for second place.
Selections
- #2 Surprsinglyperfect (7-2)
- #4 Stamp My Passport (5-2)
- #1 Fearless Soldier (3-1)
Wagers
- $20 to win on #2 Surprsinglyperfect
- $5 Exacta: 2 with 4
Total: $25
Good luck!
