As each winter draws to a close, the Santa Anita Handicap (G1) gives horse racing fans a chance to see some of the top handicap division stars.

The race has always been an early-season showcase of older dirt males, and lets fans and gamblers alike see who might have a say in the biggest dirt races all season long. The race was first run in 1935, and it’s still run at the Classic mile and a quarter distance on the dirt.
