Woodbine All-Stakes Pick 3 for Oct. 14
A trio of black-type events will highlight a fine card north of the border at Woodbine on Saturday.
All-Stakes Pick 3
- $1 Pick 3: 1,3,7 with 2,3,5,8,10 with 6,7 ($30)
Race 8 – Cup and Saucer S.
The about 1 1/16-mile turf test attracted 10 juveniles, including #7 War Painter (3-1), who was a sharp Victorian Queen S. heroine while making her turf debut last time out. The Kevin Attard trainee faces the boys on this occasion, but I still feel like the daughter of Danish Dynaformer will be dangerous in this spot, nonetheless. Rafael Hernandez will be in the silks.
Summer S. (G1) runner-up #3 My Boy Prince (4-5) is a must-use, and I will also include Attard’s #1 King Rosso (12-1) from the rail.
Race 9 – Ontario Matron S. (G3)
A full field of 12 fillies and mares will travel 1 1/16 miles on the all-weather in a tough spot. #2 Il Malocchio (9-2) makes sense from a good post slot for trainer Martin Drexler. The Grade 3 heroine has been in solid form this campaign, and the mare gets a nice post near the inside to save ground in the early stages of the affair. Sahin Civaci will be in the stirrups.
Ellis Park Turf S. victress #3 Mouffy (4-1) can be any kind while making her second synthetic run in this field for conditioner Jonathan Thomas. The Augustin Stables’ homebred has been first or second in five of her six lifetime tries to date and will always be prominent with Kaz Kimura riding.
Course specialist #5 Souper Hoity Toity (3-1), Seaway S. (G3) runner-up #8 Millie Girl (8-1), and the talented #10 Angelou (6-1) will also be included in the well-matched cast.
Race 10 – Ontario Fashion S. (G3)
The closing leg is for fillies and mares dashing six panels on the all-weather. The Grade 2 heroine #7 Our Flash Drive (5-2) boasts a superb 5-4-1-0 mark on the surface and is the one to beat for Mark Casse. The Ghostzapper five-year-old picked up graded stakes trophies in her last two local assignments and is a must-use beneath Patrick Husbands.
Josie Carroll’s #6 Loyalty (2-1) shows a fine 6-5-0-1 line at Woodbine and is another one who has to be on the ticket. The dark bay daughter of Hard Spun put in a useful prep run for this affair at Presque Isle Downs off the layoff and will be tough with her best effort under Kimura.
#3 Mouffy adds blinkers today and makes it back-to-back wins in the Ellis Park Turf S.! 🤩
