Rags to Riches Stakes Contenders

#1 CANDY LANDY (10-1): Rusty Arnold pupil finished first before being disqualified in a seven-furlong dash on the oval in her second lifetime try. The $500,000 daughter of Candy Ride is well placed on the rail, but she will need a step forward to challenge this cast in the lane with Tyler Gaffalione in the irons.

#2 FLOORED (10-1): Curlin chestnut finished an even fourth in a Keeneland allowance tilt most recently and looks to be in a tough spot in her black-type debut. This Vicki Oliver trainee would be a surprise with Luis Saez taking the reins.

#3 V V’S DREAM (6-5): Class of the cast has endured a very good season to date and is the obvious one to beat. The Mitole filly was an excellent runner-up in the Alcibiades S. (G1) at Keeneland last time out, and a repeat of that will make her difficult to knock off on Sunday. This filly is two-for-two beneath the Twin Spires and will have Brian Hernandez, Jr. up.

#4 WEST SUNSET (8-1): Brad Cox pupil overcame a poor start with a fine finish to graduate on debut on the surface. The West Coast filly gave every impression of a horse that will flourish going two turns, and she has trained in fine fashion leading up to this affair, as well. Flavien Prat retains the mount

#5 SHIMMERING ALLURE (6-1): The ‘other’ McPeek charge in the cast missed a Grade-1 placing by a head when fourth in the Alcibiades last time out. This Enticed filly has improved her Brisnet Speed figure in each lifetime try to date, and another forward move makes her a visible exotics contender with Julien Leparoux riding once again.

#6 TWIRLING GOOD TIME (4-1): Phil Bauer pupil was a fantastic debut winner going 5 1/2 panels on the strip and will be a tough beat if she improves on the move to 1 1/16 miles in this endeavor. The $250,000 Twirling Candy lass sizzled a bullet five-eighths locally in advance of her initial stakes attempt, and she will be forcing the pace from the early going under Rafael Bejarano.

#7 GIN GIN (9-2): Calumet homebred was visually impressive when breaking her maiden last time out for Cox. The Hightail filly rated kindly on the lead before closing fast most recently, and I expect her to move forward while making her two-turn debut from the outside post. The top pick will be forwardly placed early on with Florent Geroux in the stirrups.
