UFC Fight Night: Saint Preux vs. Boser betting odds, preview, and pick

June 22nd, 2021

Ovince Saint Preux is looking for new life at heavyweight, but Tanner Boser isn’t ready to roll over for him.

These two will collide as the co-feature for the June 26 edition of UFC Fight Night, and we have the preview and pick for this crossroads clash.

Boser is a bruiser

Despite Boser’s two-fight skid, and the rapid way this fight came together, he is the narrow favorite against the smaller Saint Preux. The Canadian is a heavy-handed striker and has scored 10 of his 18 wins inside the distance.

Boser may be a bit crude around the edges, but Saint Preux will give up youth and size against a determined journeyman. The 29-year-old Boser also has a strong chin, which means Saint Preux won’t have the power to hurt him.

Saint Preux is fading away

The days of his dominant run in Strikeforce well behind him, Saint Preux is taking a risk with this move to heavyweight. The skilled veteran is coming off a second-round stoppage to Jamahal Hill and hasn’t had a winning streak in more than two years.

What OSP does have is a significant advantage in height and reach. While it may be a tall order for him to score a stoppage, Saint Preux is just as good finishing opponents with submissions as he is with strikes. If he can manage to avoid a firefight, he could outsmart his opponent for a minor upset.

Boser’s size will win the night

From a skill standpoint, Boser is outmatched, but his size can overcome any gap in skill. Saint Preux's loss to Hill was a bit of a surprise, considering his durability, and Boser will hit a lot harder.

Because Saint Preux can keep the fight on the outside, he’ll use the ring and play matador to the younger fighter. Once the 38-year-old starts to run out of gas, however, he is in big trouble.

Boser won't land a major fight any time soon, but he is good enough to stay ahead of division pretenders. Saint Preux won’t hurt him or take him down, and he is not going to score style points with the judges by backing away and circling the octagon.

Expect Boser to land the better shots and come away with an uneventful decision win.
