The 2020 Thoroughbred season will start on April 8, 2020 at Evangeline Downs. The Opelousas, Louisiana facility expects 84 days of live racing each Wednesday through Saturday with a regular evening start time of 5:50pm Central.

Those looking for the premiere race events on the schedule can eagerly plan on watching the $50k Acadiana for fillies and mares 4YO and up running 6 1/2 furlongs (Friday, Apr. 17) and the $50k Lafayette Stakes for 4YO & Up at a distance of 6 1/2 furlongs (Saturday, Apr. 18). With 20 stakes races on the 2020 Thoroughbred season calendar, total purses will be expected to hit $1,340,000.

The much anticipated Louisiana Legends Night will boast of eight stakes races for Louisiana Breds on Saturday, May 30. Other stakes to watch for are the $100k Evangeline Mile on Jun. 27, $50k Spotted Horse and a total of $550k in purses on Legends night.
