My Boy Jack wins the Lexington Stakes (Coady Photo/Keeneland)
My Boy Jack is a Creative Cause colt who created buzz early on in the season after converting from turf to dirt. He ended his juvenile season with a 7th place finish in the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Turf and trainer Keith Desormeaux made the decision to transition him to an alternate surface.
The results provided interesting returns out of the box as My Boy Jack ran third to McKinzie in the 2018 Sham Stakes during his three-year-old debut. He then travelled to Oaklawn Park to compete in the Southwest Stakes, earning his first stakes victory on dirt, and then competed in the Louisiana Derby at Fair Grounds where he placed third.
My Boy Jack is next slated as the favorite in the Lexington at Keeneland on April 14th. Not bad for a $20,000 yearling purchase who has gone on to post a record of 2-3-2 in nine starts and earned $525,145 in the process.
