12   Cathryn Sophia 9/2   Hit the board in each of her first five career starts which includes four trips to the winner’s circle. A pair of her wins came against graded stakes competition which includes a dominating effort in the Davona Dale S. (G2) at Gulfstream in which she stalked the pace early and finished well late to claim the victory by seven lengths. The bay’s lone defeat came last out in the Ashland S. (G1) at Keeneland in which she stalked the pace early, edged ahead, and then tired a bit late to cross the wire in third, beaten by only a half length as the favorite. Trainer John Servis wins with 30% of his runners next out after being beaten as the favorite and 18% of the route races he has a runner in. Servis was the trainer of 2004 Kentucky Derby (G1) and Preakness S. (G1) SMARTY JONES but he has yet to win the Oaks though he did capture the 2000 edition of the Black-Eyed Susan S. at Pimlico with JOSTLE. This one tops the field in BRIS Prime Power and also possesses the best BRIS Class rating. Javier Castellano gets the call and he wins 22% of the route races he has a mount in.
11   Rachel's Valentina 7/2   Made her first start of 2016 last out in the Ashland S. (G1) at Keeneland and put in a nice effort in which she stalked the pace early but lacked the needed kick late and crossed the wire in second, beaten by only a neck. Her prior start to that came in the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies (G1), also at Keeneland, where she finished second, beaten by 5 3/4 lengths. She visited the winner’s circle in each of her two career starts prior which includes a one length score in the Spinaway S. (G1) at Saratoga. Trainer Todd Pletcher wins with 26% of his runners making their second start off the layoff and 20% of the graded stakes races he has a runner in. Pletcher is a three times Oaks winner with ASHADO (2004), RAGS TO RICHES (2007), and PRINCESS OF SYLMAR (2013). John Velazquez gets the call and he has combined with the conditioner for a 29% win rate over the last 60 days. He was aboard for Ashado's win in 2004.
2   Weep No More 9/2   Visited the winner’s circle in each of her last three starts and she pulled off the huge upset last out at Keeneland when she rallied from 13 lengths off the pace and finished well late to claim the victory by a neck in the Ashland S. (G1) at odds of 30.10-1. Her biggest win prior to that effort came while facing listed stakes competition at Tampa. Trainer George Arnold has had success with graded runners and he wins with 19% of his runners next out after winning their start prior. Corey Lanerie was aboard last out and gets the call again today. He wins 20% of the route races he has a mount in.
3   Lewis Bay 8/1   Hasn’t finished worse than second in five career starts which includes three trips to the winner’s circle with two of those wins coming versus graded stakes competition. After finishing a well beaten second in the Davona Dale S. (G2) in late February in her first start of the year the filly returned last out with an impressive performance in the Gazelle S. (G2) at Aqueduct in which she stalked the pace early and finished well late to claim the victory by 1 1/2 lengths. Dam SUMMER RAVEN has produced two other graded stakes winner in WINSLOW HOMER and MISCONNECT. Trainer Chad Brown wins with 24% of his runners making their third start off the layoff and 18% of the graded stakes races he has a runner in. Irad Ortiz Jr. gets the call and he has combined with the conditioner for a 23% win rate over the last 60 days. He wins 29% of the route races he has a mount in.
1   Terra Promessa 10/1   Has yet to finish off the board in five career starts which includes four trips to the winner’s circle with all of her wins coming after stretching out to a route. The filly is a perfect two for two since jumping up to face graded competition with both of those wins coming at Oaklawn. She was a bit rank last out while competing in the Fantasy S. (G3) but still ran well enough to claim the victory as she stalked the pace early, took a clear lead, and the held on late to cross the wire a neck in front. Though her recent BRIS Speed ratings appear to be a bit light, it is hard to argue with her recent success. Trainer Steve Asmussen wins with 21% of his runners next out after winning their start prior and 17% of the graded stakes races he has a runner in. He has saddled two prior Oaks winners with SUMMERLY in 2005 and UNTAPABLE in 2014. Ricardo Santana Jr. gets the call and he has combined with the conditioner for a 24% win rate over the last 60 days. He wins 19% of the sprints he has a mount in.
